Website Audit Service
Website Audit Service for WordPress Websites
You’ve invested thousands of dollars and/or countless hours to launch your new website. But once the excitement wears off, your website falls off the radar. Sooner or later, it stops doing what it was supposed to do. Or maybe it never did! Sluggish load times. Poor search engine visibility. Inconsistent branding. Disappointing response rates. Cryptic error messages. Security breaches. And so on.
My Website Audit Service is an objective evaluation that helps improve and extend the life of your website. The audit is performed by me, Tommy Oddo — a web designer, web developer, and WordPress consultant with over 20 years of experience.
Why Your Website Needs an Audit
My Website Audit Service can save your company thousands of dollars by exposing hidden issues that prevent you from accomplishing your strategic objectives. I created the audit service for entrepreneurs and marketers — after a decade of fixing WordPress websites I did not originally design and/or develop.
The service is comprehensive and affordable for small businesses. My deliverable — an Audit Report — is written in non-technical language you will understand. After the Audit Report has been delivered, we’ll schedule a one-hour consultation to answer your questions and prioritize next steps.
Case Study #1
A client wasn’t getting search engine traffic because their original web developer set WordPress to “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”. This issue resulted in a loss of revenue.
Case Study #2
A client thought they needed a new website. After my inspection, I identified numerous fixable issues and saved them over $7,000.
Case Study #3
A client wasn’t receiving business inquiries because the submission button on the “Contact Us” form never worked. The issue frustrated visitors and resulted in lost business opportunities.
Case Study #4
A client’s website was unknowingly hacked due to a lack of maintenance and security hardening. Visitors referred by Google were redirected to a nefarious website. The issue exposed data to hackers and tarnished the organization’s reputation.
Case Study #5
A client’s website was very slow to load due to an unsuitable hosting environment and code errors. The issue caused a poor user experience (high bounce rates) and was harmful to SEO efforts.
How the Website Audit Service Works
When you sign up for my Website Audit Service, I’ll request admin-level access to your WordPress dashboard. After the login credentials have been received and verified, the audit begins. The entire process generally takes about a week, depending on current demand. The service does not affect the performance of your website in any way.
What the Website Audit Report Includes
My Website Audit Report includes the following:
- Key Insights
- The Audit Checklist
- The Action Plan
- A Post-Audit Consultation (up to one hour)
Key Insights
A high-level list of key observations that require further scrutiny.
The Audit Checklist
1. Content Audit Section
First and foremost, the text on your website needs to be written for human consumption — not primarily for search engines. It should be easy to scan and read. And your images should be carefully selected, sized, and cropped to complement your messaging.
2. Design Audit Section
The appearance of your website should be attractive, distinctive, and brand-compliant— in ways that resonate with your target audience. Navigation and calls-to-action should be clear and visually prioritized so that your visitors can easily find what they are looking for.
3. Technology Audit Section
WordPress is a very open, flexible, and scalable platform. But unfortunately, some websites are so poorly designed and developed, your money may be better spent on a new site. At the very least, your website should be free of broken links and code errors. And your hosting company will certainly have an impact on performance and stability.
4. Security Audit Section
Most companies don’t realize their websites are under attack, until it’s too late. There are many tactics that can be used to lock out bad users, enforce strong passwords, and be better prepared in the event a disaster strikes.
5. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Audit Section
Google wants to deliver a good experience to its search users, and requires you to do the same. However, there are many ranking factors that can affect your visibility— from page speed, to mobile-friendliness, to the number of words you have on a page.
6. Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Audit Section
What good is a website if visitors can’t easily find a way to purchase a product or ask about your services? Benefits must be clearly stated and followed by a call-to-action. If the process to contact you or purchase your products is difficult, you will lose sales.
The Action Plan
A list of recommendations and actionable items.
The Post-Audit Consultation
Your Website Audit includes a one-hour consultation with Tommy to clarify the results, answer questions, and determine next steps.
Audit Scope
The Audit includes your home page and an interior page you designate.
