WordPress, the world’s most popular content management system (CMS), makes it relatively easy to edit your website— without having to rely on a WordPress web designer like myself, every time you need to make a change. It is also well documented and supported by a large online community of WordPress web designers and developers (not just me), so you’ll always find help when you need it. It is also free to license and use, and most hosting companies offer a simple, 1-click installation.

One of the primary reasons for WordPress’ popularity is its abundance of low-cost, pre-designed themes (templates), which, on the surface, can significantly reduce your cost of entry. But this “one-size-fits-all” approach prevents you from differentiating your products and services, unless you can afford to pay a WordPress web designer to twist and bend it into shape. This, among other hidden costs, can dramatically increase your website investment and defeat the purpose of buying such a theme in the first place.

WordPress Web Design : A New Concept

As a WordPress web designer, my approach is unique. Instead of starting with a pre-designed WordPress theme or template created by another designer, I rely solely on a set of frameworks (or functional wireframes) that I spent countless hours designing, coding, and to the extent possible, automating. In essence, my frameworks are like an unfinished office suite with no paint, no artwork hanging on the walls, and no furniture. That way, you don’t have to pay to tear anything down, and you don’t have to force your brand into a generic design.

Introducing OddoMotif

With the aforementioned approach, I work much like an interior designer— the look and feel of every website I create is unique and consistent with your company’s visual identity. I call this “semi-custom” approach “OddoMotif” to distinguish it from my Custom Web Design services. Of course, OddoMotif is a very flexible solution— it can be as “custom” as you’d like it be.
