Recognition
Winning awards used to be a big deal to me. And while it’s still very cool to have my work recognized by distinguished institutions and publishers, it hardly compares to the satisfaction of helping my clients succeed in ways they never imagined.
So, yes, the design must be aesthetically pleasing, but it must also be highly relevant to a client’s strategic objectives— which, sadly, is rarely a requirement for winning a design award.
